MENS’ BOWLS
Men’s Newsletter article
March 20, 2017
Janice Paddick-Hoover
On Thursday March 16th there were 37 men in attendance for the games. Winners of the day were M Osbourne and R Badans, the R’s/U were K Rowell and B Pearce and the consolation prize went to P Willcocks and B Buttsworth. N Gage and J Cunneen won the MB trophy.
Six teams from Dunsborough travelled to Kojonup for the pairs competition which was held over two days. The first day saw them competing in some of the worst conditions ever with wind gusts up to 50ks. However it all dropped back for the second day and two of our teams did rather well. K Gibb and B Hitsert were the runners-up losing one game and just behind them by one shot was the team of G Benn and G Oddy. Well done.
The Champion of Champions will be held next weekend at Augusta. Representing Dunsborough will be
Singles K Gibb Pairs M Brown/G Oddy
Vets K Allsop Triples G Benn/K Gibb/B Marwick
Novice G Robinson Fours G Davies/R Pollard/A Gil/B Buttsworth
At the time of writing these were the club’s representatives. However a few people cannot play and Ian Creagh is currently working hard to find their replacements.
I also do not have the correct starting time so this is an educated guess : games start at 12.30 on Saturday and 9am on Sunday. Please come along and support our champions.
The ladies have their league championships the following Tuesday at Augusta also.
LADIES BOWLS
WED 15TH MARCH
A small field of ladies competed in the Ladies Chairperson and Vice Chairperson drawn pairs competition.
Winners with two wins were May Armstrong and Merle Holmes.
Wed 22nd March will be the Ladies’ Match Committee 3 bowl triples.

GOLF NEWS
Dunsborough & Districts Country Club
Newsletter Men’s Golf Section 22 March, 2017 (Ron Carmody –Capt)
This week’s golf will be on Wednesday afternoon as usual with a 1.00 pm Hit Off.
There will be no game on Saturday as the DDCC is hosting the X- Adventure Bike event over the Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 March.
We are expecting more than 1,000 cyclists plus their support crews making some 3,000 attending at some time over the weekend.
As in the past we are again seeking Golf members to assist as
Volunteer Car Park Attendants on either or both days as your time permits. We park the cars on several fairways of the course in return for a gold coin donation.
Last year we raised $900 which we put towards equipment etc for the Golf Section. This year it could go a long way to help with the upgrade of the Tee Signs on the course and other course projects.
Let Ron know or just turn up if you have some time to spare for this on either of the two days. A couple of hours would be greatly appreciated.
Beats selling raffle tickets!
Car Parking last year.

CYCLE CLUB NEWS
Hi riders,
We have a big weekend ahead with X Adventure being held at Dunsborough Country Club. Get your registrations in to compete, or please volunteer to help out on either Sat or Sunday, various time slots available. Please email John@rapidascent.com.au to volunteer.
On Saturday night, the Cycle Club ran our first Caddyshack Dash, with a paired relay race riding around the golf fairways, with the golfers permission.
8 riders were involved, and the random draws were- Lee Scurlock and Mike Longman, First place of course!! Second place went to Helen Baker and Matt Rodier, with Matt making up heaps of time because he is not competitive, equal third and fourth places went to Janine Johnson and Graham Clark, and Ollie and Wayne- although Wayne reckoned he rode about 20 fairways instead of 18.
We finished with a BBQ and refreshments at the tennis shed, thanks to Matt and Shannon for bbq supplies, and thanks to Ian Sandover who donated Tim Tams to be enjoyed.
Look out for another Caddyshack Dash at some time.
Wed March 22nd MTB ride at 6.30 am will be slightly different, with some raking and blower vac of the X Adventure course.
Cheers,
Helen Baker
