BOWLS NEWS
MENS & LADIES BOWLS
Tuesday Mixed Bowls
June 6th 2017
22 bowlers turned up for another very enjoyable and fun day. The weather was very kind to us also which made for some very good bowls played.
Rob Prentice was too strong throughout to win the day ahead of Martin Osborn, John Halden & Jill Winter who all drew for second.
Well done Rob, very good bowling. Hope to see everyone again on Tuesday, weather permitting.
Thursday
Peter Cracknell split us into four rinks on both carpets when 32 players turned up on an almost windless day, with clear blue skies.
Geoff Oddy and Brian Logan won the meat, with Geoff Benn and ‘Buddy’ Sharpe* close behind.
Ken Holyoake was unsuccessful in preventing Ed Hoemburg from chewing chocolate all the way home.
Saturday
A gusty wind settled somewhat when Jill and Graeme ticked off 18 names, six triples setting out for a fine afternoon.
Butch Sharpe* remained in great form, leading Erica Littlefair and Martin Osborne to the first prize.
Ken Littlefair, undeterred by Erica’s success, skippered Merle Holmes and Graeme Winter into second place.
[ * Butch was swabbed soon after the game ]

TENNIS NEWS
TENNIS COURT BOOKING REMINDER
A reminder to all Members that you must book on the Booking Sheet if you want to play/hit up on the courts at any time. Even if you are a Member, it does not change this fact. This is important for the obvious reason that others may override your usage of the court if you haven’t booked; or it may already be booked by another person/s.
There have also been a number of times on Saturday afternoons lately when people have assumed that as a member they can come and use the court anytime for a personal hit up. A member may not use the court for a personal hit up or play in any time which is previously booked out on the Booking Sheet at the Pay Station. This of course, also applies to non-members.
Saturday Club Social tennis is accommodating up to 30 players on a Saturday afternoon between 1.00 pm and 6.00 pm. Anyone is welcome to join in with social players on a Saturday, Full members (i.e. $230.00 members) can join in social play free of charge, other Member categories (Mid-Week/Parent) or Visitors pay a $10.00 fee to join in organised social play.
NEW COURTS
The new courts are tempting us to be used, however require an extended period of fine weather for the coating to be applied with time to dry between the numerous coatings. The remaining courts will also be upgraded at this time.
