Member Feedback

What do the members think?

A consideration at the last management meeting was to trade in the piano and the pool table for something that may be used more regularly. The Management team was split as to whether these Club assets are being utilized by members and patrons or just taking up space in the Club.  I would be very interested to hear your point of view on the subject.

So to express your opinion please send me an email

Alfresco Misting System to be installed soon!

Club sponsors Adam and Kayleigh Campbell from Thinkwater Dunsborough kindly donated a water misting system to be installed in the bowls shelters on both A and B greens.

The addition of the misting system under the Alfresco Area will be very appreciated by the bowlers in the upcoming summer months.

Junior Section

Some interesting facts from the Junior section

The history of bowls in 100 words.

The history of bowls has been traced back to the ancient Egyptians. It is believed they played with stones – probably selecting the small round ones that weren’t any good for building pyramids with anyway. The English, of course, wanted to machine perfectly spherical ones from fine lumber they obtained from remote parts of the empire.

Until one day someone’s bowl split in two. And he put a simple knob to replace the broken half which led him to immediately discover he could bowl curved shots and sneak around other bowls near the jack. Today all bowls have a certain built in bias.

Wanted

Outdoor Setting in Alfresco Area

It has been suggested the Club could do with a nice outdoor setting for the alfresco area.  The quote returned was around $2000.  This was deemed to be a bit too much money to outlay at present.  If anyone knows of a good quality setting for a less amount could you please contact me at the Club.

Good News!

Insurance recovered costs

The Club received a full insurance payout for the quad bike that was stolen from the workshop several months ago.  It was a drawn out process and we eventually got the result in our favour.  Thank you very much to Ian Potts for his time and effort in dealing with the process.

The Members Jackpot Draw will be at $900 this Friday.  The draw will take place between 5.30pm & 6.30pm.  Members must be present and financial to claim.

Have a great week and enjoy the glorious weather!

Keep Smiling

Regards

Bruce Taylor
