    Hi riders,

Thanks to the volunteers who attended our Trail Care Day on Sunday July 7th and cut in a new line for our enjoyment.

The Child’s Play / Why Not line is great fun, give it a try if you have not already!

The Dual Slalom has been upgraded, although a bit soggy in parts with some recent downpours!

Note that the cycle line on Longman’s needs to be remarked, with some tidying up  of honkey nuts and debri, masking our trail. We hope to have this marked out soon.

Enjoy riding over the school holidays, and see you out on the trails!

    WIMBLEDON

Best wishes to all of those Tennis members who have taken the opportunity to attend Wimbledon and enjoy the fabulous matches there.  We look forward to hearing about it on your return!

Dunsborough Country Club Tennis Tragics continued to enjoy the warm respite from Dunsborough and include as many celebrations as possible during their stay in Kota Kinabalu.  The photo below shows the group celebratingDorothy Davies’ 64th birthday, Trevor Holm’s 75th and Kerry Walker’s 70th. Trevor and Pat also managed to have this trip coincide with their Wedding Anniversary.  Such a fit, young group!  Another example of how fit tennis can keep you.  Well done Tennis Members!

A keen field of  twenty two players rolled up to make this a successful event for 2019 .

Starting with a shotgun start from different tees around the course which had been well prepared by our valued volunteers, one or two light showers did not daunt the spirits of the playing field . A tea/coffee to ready the field for the 12.00 start saw players soon  swinging and putting with purpose around the course.

Libby, in congratulating the players thanked all the players for their support of the event and the spirit that is displayed by Members and Visitors for DDCC events like this.

We as Members greatly appreciate the support of our valued Patrons .

Thanks also to our DDCC Club Chef, Rob, for his after game savoury delights.

  • ·     Mike Brown has brought his smaller tractor on course for a short time to assist with  the fine tuning of the new tree rake and despite the wet weather it seems to be working OK.
  • ·     Now we have several stockpiles ready for removal.
  • ·     Clive Williams and Mike Brown have organized the fertilization of the course with  Supervisor Barry Jackson, as soon as weather permits.
  • We are combining this with the removal and sale of  some scrap metal.
  • ·     Thanks to the two Barrys for making up a hoist cover for the truck to assist with these activities.

This Week’s Quote

LADIES’ GOLF

The inclement weather, once again hampered the ladies golf day last Thursday and the Championship round for 18 holers was once again postponed and the 9 holers also didn’t get to play, but it did give the ladies a bit of planning time for the upcoming SWDLGA Championships being held at our Club in August. However, with better weather forecast this coming Thursday, we will attempt 3rd time lucky and post the 2nd Championship round again instead of the Pink Ball Day.

Thank you to Ron Carmody & Co for organising the successful Mixed Ambrose Open Day on Saturday despite the initial bit of rain. Post rain, the day turned out lovely and a few photos below show just how lovely the course has become this year.

...and yes the kangaroos agree that the course is in great condition too!
