    HAPPENINGS AROUND THE CLUB

    SOUTH WEST DISTRICT LADIES GOLF ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIPS

    This event is being hosted by the DDCC Golf section on Friday 9th, Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of August (This weekend).

    PLEASE NOTE: There is NO Saturday Night Dinner this week due to the above function.

    Tomorrow is the last Wednesday of Yoga for a couple of weeks – as Mandy is going away for more Yoga training, classes will commence again on Wednesday September 25th.

    The Jackpot Draw was not won last Friday night. The number drawn out was 137 belonging to Stephen Hayes who unfortunately was not present.

    This Friday the draw will again be $1000.

    The new 2019/20 Membership year for the Jackpot draw takes effect this Friday August 9th. If you are not financial for the new year then you will be ineligible to win the draw.

     fabulous people, who do not even play golf, who

     have volunteered to help out for the ladies golf 

    weekend.

    I have had a tremendous response and the 

    weekend is in great hands with all the offers of 

    help given.

       Enjoying the conditions, the balance of the players all scored in the 30 ‘s.

      Saturday 3 August Stroke 

      Although the weather looked threatening it did not deter a keen group of players playing the game where every shot counts as we all found out.!!

      Winner 

      Mike Brown who has got to know the course well, both on and around the fairways, in recent weeks and not always with his club in his hand!  Many Thanks.

      Mike  shot a Gross 99 to score a Nett 76 . 

      Runner up     Mal Williamson shooting a Gross 93 giving a Nett  79.

      Congratulations and well played Mike and Mal. 

      No 18  – Long Putt   Jim Holroyd was determined to finish his game well.

      Thanks Barry Jackson , for  helping us to be clearly focused  and on line now both on and off the fairway with our shots.  To all the mowing team, rakers, carters, cleaner uppers etc  the course is reflective of your  great efforts .  Well done All.

      Major Event 

       South West Districts Ladies  Golf   Association  3 Day Event 

       Our Ladies Golf Section led  by Vicki Frost –Captain  is in top gear for this event.  Friday 9th,  Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th  August  with a field of 100 plus players from around the South West for this event each day. WE are calling for ALL available volunteers to continue with your  support and assistance to date, with the staging of this event, on coming  days and  THANKS to ALL for your  great effort to date.    

      “Go DDCC Golf.”       

      Country Vets  Event will be hosted by DDCC  on Wednesday 21 August.

LADIES’ GOLF

    LADIES GOLF 1st August. 

                EIGHTEEN HOLES.  

Nine ladies played stroke for the fourth qualifying round for the championships.

Winner with 96 strokes, 74 net and 34 stableford points was Sharon Batchelor.

Runner –up with 95 strokes, 76 net and 32 stableford points was Vicki Frost.

            NINE HOLES.

          Five ladies played a stableford holes 10 to 18.

Beth Jackson was the winner with 15 points and runner/up was May Armstrong

   on a countback from Jean James.

What a GREAT golf section we have!!

Everybody has been so fantastic with volunteering of time and food. Any time a request for help has been put out I have received such great responses -you should all be very proud of our wonderful golf section.

TENNIS NEWS

LADIES MID WEEK OPENING DAY

Wednesday 28 August is planned to be the Opening Day for Midweek Ladies Tennis.  Andrew Woodward will be in attendance and incorporating the following:

  • Organise Sets/play sets
  • Free coaching/ squads session/warm up
  • Doubles positioning/tactics presentation
  • Provide racquets for use
  • Q and A

Come along and enjoy the day!

An informal gathering of the Tennis Section for the purpose of sharing information between Tennis Section members is planned for Saturday 7 September @ 12.00 noon and will be held in the Sportsman’s Bar at the far end of the main Clubrooms.

CYCLE NEWS


Hi Riders,

Please note CYCLE TRAIL CLOSURE DATES….

The DDCC Golf section will host the major  South West Ladies Golf Championship over three days on 

Friday 9   Saturday 10  Sunday 11 August with over 100 plus golfers attending on all days.

 To assist the smooth and safe running of this event for both golfers and riders, the DDCC cycle trails

would  be closed until 5.00 pm on each of these days.

Also on Wednesday 21 August , the South West Vets Association Golf  one day event will be hosted by the DDCC with another field of 100 players,

and the trails again would be closed  for a smooth running event.

These events  would also include the Pump track at No 1 Tee and fairway.

Knock yourselves out at Meelup trails, but please respect these golf events.

  • MEN’S BOWLS 

    Mixed TuesdayWinter Fun Social Bowls

    THURSDAY BOWLS 

     
    This week we had 30 guys turn up for the afternoon including visitors from Perth and Busselton. It was 2 games of 3 bowl triples over 5 rinks on a perfect sunny winters afternoon and there was great comradery between all the players. 

    The Mars Bars were taken home by Ken Hill, John Tucker and Rod Winchcombe with a respectable minus 29.

    Consolation 2 [lost the first and won the second] winners were Keith Rowell, Lindsay Bligh and Bill Hitsert with a plus 7.

    Consolation 1 [won the first lost the second] winners were Garry Robinson, Geoff Oddy and Frank Priest with a plus 14. 

    Runners up on the day with 2 wins and a plus 8 were Terry South, Wendell Hoover and Toby McCarthy.

    The winners and a big congratulations go to Billy Pearce, Mike Lumbis and Adrian Cox finishing with 2 wins and a plus 18. 

    It was good to see Adrian in the winner’s circle this week as his favourite food the last couple of weeks has been chocolate and now he can eat meat. Congratulations Adrian and keep bowling mate.
