MEMBERSHIP REVIEW

With regard to the Membership Review it has been decided to keep fees the same for another year and continue working on Membership restructure to

make sure we find the best possible solution and also incorporate value for membership. We wish to have a complete package available this time next year.

Please note that social members who participate 3 times competitively (in each of the sports)  MUST then upgrade to a full membership.

This year we will be re-introducing Membership cards and you are asked to carry them on you when at the club as you may be asked to produce

them for certain activities or purchases in the future year.

If you have any queries please contact me- Vicki Frost membership@dunsboroughcountryclub.org.au or ring on 97591218 in the evening.

BOWLS

Men’s Bowls

Tuesday’s MM Bowls saw some keen competition in the finals playoff with some very vocal support from the sidelines.

Evelyn Rose won the event from Wayne Coyle with Rod Grist & Kevin Nichols taking the minor places. Pleasing to see Kevin, a relative new bowler up there in the finals.

Once again the event was well supported & thanks to Butch, Sharon & Geoff Oddy for their continued organisation of this day.

Remember to be there at 1.00pm for a 1.30 start.

Thursday Men’s Social bowls again attracted a great roll up with the weather bringing bowlers out from their burrows to soak up the sun & enjoy their bowls.

Graham Winter & G. Reynolds excelled on the day with Gibby& John Cunneen runners up.

The Consolation prize went to Ed Hoemberg& Bill Bass.

Bowlers please be at the Club by 12.30pm for a 1.00pm start.

Hint: You don’t have to wait to be asked to sell the raffle bats. You can volunteer! Be prepared to have a turn.

Snakes & Ladders, the Saturday Mixed Cash game is gathering memento with very good feedback from bowlers on this new approach to a fun day of bowling. It’s a very social occasion with players ceded to play against those of similar skill level.

Again you are reminded to be at the Club NO LATER than 12.10 pm. It does help if you put your name on the board before Friday evening but this is not mandatory.

Wendell & Janice are certainly making this a very attractive Club event.

Last Saturday’s event was won by Wayne Coyle on a Shots Up count back from Butch Sharpe, both having 6 points.

Marie Patterson had 4 points to run third.

Asbestos Removal

Asbestos Removal in Meelup

A contractor is commencing works to remove asbestos in Meelup around existing MTB trails. Removal is likely to commence within the next week. There will be signposting and barricading off as much as is practicably possible during the removal period.

Please note that the purpose of this is to keep people out of the area whilst removal is taking place, which is a requirement of the Code of Practice for the Safe Removal of Asbestos. As entry into the area via informal trails is quite diffuse, it will be difficult to signpost/barricade every trail access point.

The areas that are being targeted include:
a) the first section of the proposed Brown St uphill alignment
b) the ghetto
c) James Hardie area

Note that this is the first stage of asbestos removal while a remediation plan is being developed for the area.
