Hello Members, Sponsors & Patrons
Seniors’ Week will be celebrated in Dunsborough on Thursday, November 12th. The Get Up and Go Activity Day will follow the same format as last year. Seniors’ are encouraged to GET UP out of their comfort zone and GO and try something different. Activities on offer are tennis, croquet, lawn bowls, carpet bowls, mah jong, scrabble, table tennis, guided bush walking and cycling. Cyclists will have the option of riding the trails or bike paths. Please bring your own bike, if possible.
An unsuccessful application was made to the COTAWA for funding so the organising committee, Frances Lismore, Helen South and Trish Flower, are grateful to the DDCC for generously allowing us to use their facilities without charge, and the Dunsborough Progress Association for making the Hall available for carpet bowls. A successful application to the Busselton City Council will provide funds to cover the cost of providing morning tea and lunch, so there will be no charge for participants on the day. We are most grateful to those mentioned because without their generosity it would not be possible to run the day.
The day will start with morning tea at 9.30am and a light lunch at 1pm will conclude the day. An RSVP by Monday 9th November is essential for catering. Please put your name on the list in the foyer, email manager@dunsboroughcountryclub.org.au or phone the DDCC on 97553250.

Croquet News
Pennants: The 2015 South West pennant competition is now over. Congratulations to our team, Raelene Willis, Terry Herd and David Bell, who finished in second place overall, behind Bunbury Central. The only game they lost was the final match against Halls Head 2. Raelene won her match and Terry and David lost by very small margins. The final games were held at Moorabinda last Thursday and a meeting was held to set up the 2016 season. Dunsborough was thanked for their organisation of the competition this year and this mantle was passed to Halls Head.
Twilight Croquet: This will begin on Friday, Nov 6th. Arrive at about 5pm for a quick lesson, and then play until 6.15pm, finishing in time for the Friday Night meal. Cost will be $3 for members and $5 for DDCC social members and non-members.

The final stage of the Cape to Cape Mountain Bike event rolled into the DDCC on Sunday 25th October. A great atmosphere was created on the 18th with Bootleg Brewery running a bar, DDCC sporting groups feeding the hungry hordes with their sausage sizzle. Event course marshalling has done by Cycle Club members and event parking managed by the DDCC.
1200 participants and their helpers descended on the region for the start of the event on Thursday at Cape Leeuwin. Day 1 was a gruelling day from Cape Leeuwin to Hamelin Bay. Friday Day 2 took the riders across country from Hamelin Bay to Xanadu Winery. Day 3 on Saturday saw the 1200 cyclists start at Xanadu Winery, roll through the main street of Margaret River to huge applause and bell ringing from spectators lining the street. The official start for the day was on Carter Road. This day was full of single track through the ‘pines’ and then cross country again to finish at Colonial Brewery. The fourth and final day on Sunday brought the riders from Colonial Brewery to the finish at DDCC along gravel roads, fire tracks, through ‘middle earth’ and the final bit of single track through the DDCC mountain bike trails.
Club management committee man and cycle club committee member Greg Banfield successfully completed the gruelling 4 day event after winning an entry by volunteering as a course marshall at the previous year’s event. The prize initially viewed as perhaps a ‘penalty’ but Greg trained and steadily and determinably rode the course.
Prior to the presentations Greg welcomed all competitors and supporters to the DDCC. Presentations to various categories were carried out with Dunsborough’s Sarah McLachlan taking out fifth position in the Open Women’s Category.
Other locals completing the event were Mike Longman, Matt Rodier, Rohan Brown, Jon, Chris, Lee, Roger, Martin, Ingrid, Mandy, Di.
Amber Nash, Elise Hanley, Helen Baker & Jenny Clark teamed up completing 1 day each and Mark Webster & Danni Clark also working together.
Social MTB ride from Willow Springs to Nannup Sunday Nov 8. 9.30 am start at Nannup. Suit beginners, not technical riding, although expect some rolling gravel.
The plan is- meet at the end of Brockman St, Nannup at 9.30 am. (First turn right coming from Busselton after the Blackwood Bridge) There are BBQs, toilets, tiger snakes, tables, park area to play cricket, footy for the kids there. The Munda Biddi Trail runs through here also.
Riders drive to start point at Willow Springs, and remember to leave a car or two at the end point. Ride back to the picnic area and have bbq lunch. Distance about 25 kms, and the general terrain profile is mostly downhill.
Those wanting an easier ride could ride from the picnic area however far they feel like. The Munda Biddi Trail is well marked with yellow and blue markers.
BYO food and supplies.
