Happenings Around The Club 

 

Xmas in July

The Club will be hosting Xmas in July on Sunday 23rd of July at 12.30pm.  You will be treated to a Xmas buffet at a cost of $35 per person.   A booking sheet is posted on the information board in the foyer of the Club.  Get a group together and come join in the festivities.

Footy Tipping Competition

The winner of the two AFL tickets and return bus charter to watch the Eagles v Carlton on Saturday, August 12th was Kevin Lange.  Kevin was the only tipper with a perfect 9 from 9.  Well done Kevin.  Come see me to collect your prize.

MEMBERSHIP
Wow!! What a wonderful bunch of Members we have at the Dunsborough
Country Club!! Over 75 % of Members have paid their Membership before the
end of July- that is fantastic!! Thank you all for your promptness of paymentwell
done and much appreciated!
A quick reminder that if you have NOT paid your Membership then to remain
a participant in the Friday night draw you need to have paid by the 31st of
July- that is the deadline for inclusion in the draw.
Also if you have not picked up your Membership Card from the Club you are
missing out on your Rewards that are linked to your Membership Card-so
come and see me at the Club from 10am commencing Thursday 20th of July
until the end of July. Alternatively ask the bar staff for your Membership Card.
If for some reason Members do not wish to renew their Membership could
they please send me an email to let me know so I can remove them from the
database.

MENS & LADIES BOWLS

Mixed Tuesday July 11th

12 Players braved the cold and wet weather for another very fun and enjoyable afternoon of bowls.  Three games were played and the three people to go through to the finals were Geoff Oddy, who played excellent bowls all day, Maureen Hines and Butch Sharpe.  Geoff continued his strong performance to win the day.  Well done Geoff.  Let’s hope for better weather next Tuesday to boost up the attendance.

 

CROQUET NEWS

Hi All.

Moorabinda Croquet Club inc held a Christmas in July Tournament on Saturday 8th July and Sunday 9th July 2017 for AC Advanced Singles (level play – 2.5 hours games.)

Players entered from Cambridge Croquet Club, Moorabinda Croquet Club, Halls Head Croquet Club  and Dunsborough Croquet.

Dunsborough Croquet was represented well by Raelene Willis and Max Kewish .Both played well and other clubs were aware of their presence.

The standard of play was high  played. All the participants enjoyed the friendly but competitive atmosphere.

The weather was fine but there was a cool breeze throughout the two day keeping everybody rugged up..

The tournament was won by Brian Hadley from Cambridge Croquet. Runner-up to Brian was our own Max Kewish . with Raelene coming in fourth place.

A great effort by both of our AC players.

Newsletter   Men’s Golf Section    18 July, 2017      (Ron Carmody –Capt)

 Last Saturday’s inclement weather forced the postponement of the scheduled Stroke Event Round 3 of the Championship so it will now be played on Saturday 5 August. My apologies to the small keen band of golfers who then went out to brave the elements with several playing nine holes and some playing the eighteen as they wanted to get their golf handicaps updated.

Coming Events

 Wednesday  19 July   -Scroungers 

 Saturday   22 July      DDCC OPEN DAY

  Event is       Mixed Ambrose Fours  with each team required to have a Lady Member  to qualify for a prize.

Ian Potts has done a great job in contacting all members and nearby Clubs so we hope to have a good field for this major event.

Many Thanks to our Club Patron , Barry House and our local MLA Libby Mettam , who hope to be there given their busy schedules .

Be there by 9.30 am for a 10.00 am, Shotgun Start.

There will be nibbles and afternoon tea served prior to the presentations.

 Entry Fee is $20 per player   making it    $80 per team.

 Prizes are  1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd  Nett and Best Gross Teams.

Novelties are  NTP on Par  Threes and Long putts on the green for several other holes.

The Open Day this year will be held on July 22nd 2017 and will be a Mixed
Ambrose Fours event.
You are encouraged to get a team together and join in what has always been a
good event for the Golf Section.
I have attached a brochure and an entry form.

LADIES GOLF

 

NINE HOLES 11TH JULY.

Only two ladies braved the weather conditions, so Marie Jager and Mary Hummerston played 3 holes together.

Well done ladies.

EIGHTEEN HOLES 13TH JULY.

The third round of stroke and putting and silver spoon saw Gay Growden win with 69 net and 39 stableford points.

Runner up was Jill Winter with 75 net, and she was also the winner of the gross with 94 strokes.

The Silver Spoon was won by Pat Manton.

Nearest the Pin on 8 was Gay Growden, and the best second shot on 11 was Gwen Bosenberg.

THOUGHT OF THE WEEK:-

Money saved for a rainy day buys a smaller umbrella than it used to !!

Friday Night Jackpot

The Jackpot Draw on Friday night was not won. The Jackpot will be $600 this week.  Members must be financial and present to claim. The Jackpot is drawn between 5.30pm and 6.30pm in the Clubroom bar.
