BOWLS NEWS
MEN’S BOWLS
Come on Dunsborough! Once again, invaders won the meat last Thursday, when Rob Pollard and John Cunneen entered the names of 44 players in the Thursday peg-draw. George Reynolds from Busselton and Ed Clark from Brunswick were the victors, just two shots ahead of our own Garry Robinson and Bill Pearce. Rob Wilson and Tom Reynolds took the chocolate home. After the game our captain Geoff Benn presented awards to the winner of the Professionals Championship Singles plate, Tom Reynolds; to the winners of the Bootleg Brewery Championship pairs, Rod Winchcombe and Bill Pearce; and the runners-up of that event, Ralph Don and Bill Hitsert (in abstensia)
On Saturday, the annual Champion of Champions tournament took place at Margaret River. Despite the fact that we only won one of the six formats played (singles, pairs, triples, fours, novices, and veterans) Dunsborough, as a club, came second, just two points behind the winners, Augusta. So the wins in the other five formats contributed to a most satisfactory overall score. Our champion on the day who has been previously known as “Pres” or “Moshe” should now be addressed as “Champ”. He assassinated all-comers in the Veterans, only ‘Smiler’ from Margaret River posing a close contest, the Champ winning 21-18.(A rumour that Rob tampered with Smiler’s bowls is without foundation – though Rob may shortly be painting his SUV purple).
The Bowling Section’s AGM takes place in less than a month. According to the constitution all places become vacant, so please nominate the new committee for the 2018/19 season by appending names to the list on the notice-board. The next committee will also need to recommend how many sides to enter in both the Leeuwin League and the SWBL next season, so please indicate your availability on the other two sheets.
LADIES BOWLS
SOCIAL BOWLS 21ST MARCH
There was a good roll up of players despite several ladies being away at Country week.
Conditions were very hot and humid.
Winners with 6 points +13 were Judy Henderson and Margaret Beacham.
Runners up also with 6 points and + 11 were Gail Barry and Lorraine Bell.
Mixed social bowls will be held on Wednesday 28th.

CROQUET NEWS
On Friday morning the croquet golf team played their final round of golf pennants at Moorabinda, Bunbury.
As it was the final, all teams played, which included Busselton A and B Team, Dunsborough and Moorabinda.
The teams were playing for the Annual Golf Shield and Dunsborough had the honour of winning the Shield.
Everyone played their best but Dunsborough were just too good. Congratulations to the team consisting of Karen, Brian, John B, Max and Robin B.
You were all fantastic and the croquet club players are proud of the effort you all put in.
There will soon be a new Croquet Shield hanging proudly in the Club.
We keep it for 12 months and then have to play our best again to keep it. No pressure players.
Next year it will be Dunsborough’s turn to organise this event.
