Hello Members, Sponsors & Patrons

What a weekend of AFL.  Not so great for the Dockers supporters.  As I am not one of those it was sensational.  We will be televising the Grand Final on Saturday at the Club.  Come along from 11.30 am and enjoy a great day with the West Coast Eagles hopefully flying high over the Hawks.

A free sausage sizzle will be available at half time along with happy half time drink specials.

Don’t forget the Dunsborough and Districts Country Club AGM will be held on 18th October 2015 at 10.00am.

EAGLES Vs DOCKERS

On Saturday a Club Pennant Challenge was held to introduce new bowlers to the 4-a-side format. Despite their loss on Friday night 8 Dockers turned up and played 8 WCE’s on two rinks.

Disappointed that the selectors had transferred him to the Dockers, Kelly Allsop nevertheless ensured his side drew 15-all with Graeme Winter’s four, while Rob Prentice’s Dockers side, after a neck-and –neck tussle, won the last two ends to pip Ian Creagh’s Eagles at the final siren.

A big thank you to Bob Randall who joined in at the last minute in the absence of one of those who had signed up to play.

SENIORS’ WEEK 2015

Following the success of the inaugural event last year, the DDCC will once again be the focus of an event to celebrate the contribution of seniors.

The Get Up and Go Activity Day will be held on Thursday, 12th November and will follow the 2014 format, with participants encouraged to try a variety of timed activities.

There will be a meeting at the Club at 5.15pm tomorrow (Wed 30th), to start planning this event. Those interested should attend or contact Frances Lismore Ph 97568374 or Helen South Ph 97553722 with your suggestions.

CROQUET

The Croquet Section held a Luncheon last Friday to farewell stalwart Barbara Mander who recently announced her retirement.

Barbara started croquet in 1996 and in that time she has been actively involved in the development of the playing area from a rudimentary small court, to one full size court, and then the establishment of the three quarter second court, and now to having two full sized courts. Barbara’s husband Rob was also acknowledged for his considerable contribution.

Barbara spent 17 continuous years on the Executive of the Croquet Section and has served the DDCC at Management level. She has had considerable success on the court at Club and Regional level and has nurtured many new players.

Last Saturday we played the annual President V  Captain  Teams Event .

The two teams selected were evenly matched on handicap which resulted in a very close finish between the two Team scores.

The Captains Team score total was 168 stableford points and the Presidents  team scored 167 points with  only one point separating the final result.

Best individual scores were Barry Jackson on 41 points  followed by Jim Parry on 37 points..

Thanks President  Brian Morris and Captain Ron Carmody for their sponsorship of the event.  The result could not have been much closer.

Junior Golf  Wind Up

Last Friday, the Junior Golf section held their annual wind up.

It was well attended by juniors and their parents.

This season, we had a fall in numbers with many of our older players

heading off to high school. This is unfortunate but it happens to every club.

We had a few new players this season, Will and Oban Ford, Jaryd Hughes, Alex Cooke, and Dale Reid.

Congratulations to the new player for a great season and we hope to see you back next year.

Congratulations to the following prize winners from Friday’s presentation:

And everyone else I missed.

We have some very exciting plans for 2016 which we can’t wait to put into action!

Tennis News

2015 Junior Tournament

South West Tennis Team comprising members from Dunsborough, Busselton and Bunbury travelled to Mandurah by bus on Sunday 20th September to represent the region in the Tri-Cities Tennis Challenge.

Teams from Perth, Mandurah and the South West comprised 12 men and 12 women playing doubles and mixed doubles. Mandurah took out the challenge this year but the South West Team is determined to better their record next year with a home based challenge at the Bunbury courts. Dunsborough District Country Club Tennis Members John McCallum, Greg Banfield and Jenny Clark represented the DDCC and enjoyed  the strong challenges on the day. We were more than happy to each win some of our matches
