Hello Members, Sponsors & Patrons

Friday night went very well with the new chef Hamish and a new format.  We had nearly 100 in for dinner who all enjoyed their meal and the night.  Tapas style food will be available this Saturday and Sunday from 4.00pm to 7.00pm.  Grab a friend and come to the Club and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat.

Seniors’ Day

 A very successful Seniors’ Activity Day was held at the DDCC on Thursday, Nov 12th. The day was open to seniors in the community and about 70 participated.

The organisers are very grateful to the Club for allowing the use of their wonderful facilities that allow such varied activities to be centered on the one site. Thank you to the bowls, croquet and tennis sections, the carpet bowlers, mah jong players and table tennis players who provided instruction, to Greg Banfield for being available for cycling, and to Ron Glencross for leading the informative bush walks.

We are grateful to the City of Busselton for funds to provide morning tea and lunch, and were pleased to have Councillor John McCallum join us for the morning. A big thank you to the members of the croquet section for their work in the kitchen.

The organisers would appreciate any feedback to make this event even better next year.

Good Afternoon Tennis Members

This is a reminder regarding the raffle tickets which some of you have kindly taken to sell.

Please note there is only another 10 days or so to sell the remainder of these tickets prior to the date of the draw.  For those of you who still have tickets to sell, please make an extra effort to sell these as soon as possible.  As you all know this is a joint effort to raise funds for our much wanted and needed new courts.

There are also tickets available at the Club – just ask Bruce Taylor.

Thank you all for your efforts.

With kind regards

Marlene Howes

Tennis Members enjoyed a very sunny Saturday of Social Tennis on 21 November with 25 players in attendance.  Four of these were visitors to the Club which is excellent.  This also highlights the necessity for extra courts to accommodate the increasing tennis membership.  The Tennis Section’s raffle, (the information is set out below) aims to raise funds to assist with this endeavour.  The raffle will be drawn on 7 December so please check with Bruce at the Club or any tennis member or email: marlene.howes@bigpond.com or  if you wish to purchase a ticket.

 The raffle will be drawn on 7 December 2015 and I am sure will be appealing to a number of tennis players or those interested in tennis. There are only 200 tickets available @ $50.00 each and already there has been significant interest.  The prizes are as follows:

 1st Prize                –              Australian Open Quarter Finals Package for two (2) – 26-27 January 2016 (including accommodation (Citidines – Bourke Street central Melbourne), Rod Laver Arena tickets, and $800 cash air fare allowance) – Value $3,200;

2nd Prize               –              Hopman Cup Finals Tickets (2) – 9 January 2016 – Value $300;

3rd Prize                –              Money back – Value $50.

A huge thanks to Roman for organizing another ripper DUN-B GRASS ROOTS RIDE. Kids and mums enjoyed the coaching over a variety of obstacles. We learnt track stands, weaving through narrow obstacles, simulated rock gardens, bunny hops, see saws, and drops.

Thanks also to Craig for his assistance, and Regina for organising the yummy hot dogs!

The musical track stand competition was great fun, and Rory won the wheelie comp by a mile!

Keep an eye out as the next location will be posted on Facebook. (Cape Mountain Bikers and Dunsborough Cycle Club) Kids and beginner adults welcome, or come along for a chat and sausage sizzle afterwards. Please RSVP for catering.

Rides are fortnightly with a cost of $5 for materials, prize lollies and hot dogs. Next ride Monday Nov 30 4.30 pm. Location to be advised.

Cheers, Helen Baker
