Hello Members, Sponsors & Patrons
It was another busy week at the Club due to the Ladies Two Day Bowls Carnival, Men’s social bowls, a busy Friday night, Men’s Pennants and Saturday sports.
Men’s Social bowls attracted 36 bowlers on Wednesday which was a good turnout considering how many regulars were away at bowling carnivals.
Thursday and Friday was the Ladies Two Day Carnival.
We had over 100 in for Friday night dinner. The members jackpot was not won and will be at $1100 this Friday.
There will not be a dinner on this Friday due to the Drifters performing. We will be drawing the jackpot and Club raffle as per normal.
Ladies Two Day Bowling Carnival.
Preparations for this carnival started way back in April and solid work continued over the ensuing months. Over 3400 kms was travelled by the 22 nominated teams with the Sorrento Bowling Club travelling the greatest distance. From the draw we saw last year’s first and second place winners competing in the very first game. This was very interesting and ended up with Capel destroying Mosman Park. Maybe the wind had something to do with Lisa Featherby’s team going down in three of the five games they played. Again the final games came into play for the placings and this year we congratulate Meadow Springs who came in ahead of a Busselton team. Capel was third and Sorrento placed 4th.
The carnival once again had great sponsors in The Bendigo Bank, Nick Goode Construction, Inspirations Paint and Simone Perele. We are grateful for their support. We were also very fortunate in receiving great sponsorship with our raffles over the two days and all companies are thanked with special mention of the two sponsors for the two-day raffles. These were the Dunsborough Pharmacy and Royal Doulton in Perth.
All ladies worked hard for this carnival and I extend personal thanks to everyone. Big mention to the team in the kitchen, Pam Brown and Beth Jackson and all their support staff. The food was great and extensive. I have had many people commenting on the carnival, all stating it a huge success in organisation, friendliness and the meals of course.
The entertainment on the night was fabulous and those teams which stayed had a great time dancing and playing up! I have already been asked by clubs to send me some of the photos I took of their dancing stars! Talking of photos; all photos taken were shown on the telly screen again this year and they will also be shown on the Country Club’s website for those who would like to view.

Croquet SW Pennants 2014
Last Thursday, Dunsborough played its last SW Pennants games for 2014 at Moorabinda,
Bunbury. Happily we won the day against Halls Head 2, scoring 63 hoops to 57 in the 4 games.
Raelene Willis and David Bell won their games convincingly, Raelene did especially well
against a 12 H/C player. Stuart Dunn and Terry Herd were gallant in defeat! Dunsborough
ended up 4th out of the 5 teams in the competition, with 206 hoops for and 238 against
over the 4 rounds.
I should like to thank our 4 regular players plus David Morris, who played
in the first round, for their commitment to the Pennants competition.
Next year, Dunsborough is to co-ordinate the competition. With our second full-size
court in place, our 2 home fixtures will be played at Dunsborough for the first time.
We are looking forward to that.
